Things to do in Copenhagen

Copenhagen Information - Hotels Airport Transportation

Copenhagen is the major city in Denmark and home to the Royal family. The many sights to be visited included castles and royal palaces.

Amalienborg Palace is the winter residence of the Royal Family where you see the Changing of the Guard. The Royal Guard protects the crown jewels in Rosenborg Castle.

Outside of Copenhagen, in North Zealand, the Queen's summer residence of Fredensborg Palace is in the middle of a lovely park, bordering Esrum Lake. The town of Elsinore has Kronborg Castle, made famous by Shakespeare's Hamlet, on the UNESCO world heritage list.

Hillerod is home of Frederiksborg Castle, built by King Christian IV in the 1600's. Built in Renaissance style with a touch of baroque is now a national historical museum, containing treasures of painting, tapestry, porcelain, silver and furniture.

Back in Copenhagen, there are other sights to visit including Tivoli Gardens, one of the oldest amusement parks in the world. Take in a performance at the Royal Theater, world-famous for its Royal Ballet. Copenhagen is the home of Carlsberg Breweries. Visit the canal district and see the National Museum and Christiansborg Palace, home to the Danish Parliament.
